Le isole hanno ricevuto questo nome dal capitano Frederick William Beechey nel 1826. Seahorse (in italiano "cavallo marino") è un antico termine per tricheco[1]..

Geografia

Le isole si trovano sulla costa settentrionale dell'Alaska, 1,7 km ad est di Point Franklin[2], una stretta striscia di terra che assieme alle isole racchiude la baia Peard (Peard Bay[3]). L'isola più lunga misura 5 km, il punto più alto raggiunge i 2 m. La loro forma è cambiata nel corso degli anni[1].

The Seahorse Islands is a chain of long and narrow sandy islands in western North Slope Borough, Alaska, United States. They are located between Peard Bay and the Chukchi Sea, 1.7 km (1.1 mi) east of Point Franklin. The longest island is about 5 km (3.1 mi) in length and the highest point of the islands is 2 m (6.6 ft). The shape of these coastal islands has changed over the years.
