Geografia

Ha una superficie di 0,025 km² e un'altitudine massima di 9 metri sul livello del mare. Conosciuta anche come Isola degli uccelli (Остров на птиците, Ostrov na pticite, in bulgaro), è situata nella Baia di Sozopol, vicino alle isole di Sant'Ivan e San Cirillo.

L'isola di San Pietro non è menzionata in alcuna fonte fino a metà del XIX secolo, e si presume che ciò sia dovuto al fatto che fino ad allora fosse rimasta collegata da un lembo di terra alla vicina isola di Sant'Ivan. Il distacco fra le due isole sarebbe stata la conseguenza di un qualche fenomeno naturale risalente a quel periodo.

Intorno al 1820 alcuni corrispondenti di guerra russi descrissero la presenza di due minuscoli isolotti a est dell'isola, conosciuti con i nomi di Milos e Gata. Negli anni seguenti questi affioramenti sono molto probabilmente stati sommersi dalle acque.

Archeologia

Sull'isola sono state scoperte le rovine di una cappella risalente al periodo risorgimentale bulgaro nonché alcune antiche ceramiche.

Sweti Petar (auch „Vogelinsel“) ist die kleinere der beiden Schwarzmeerinseln, die wenige Kilometer nördlich von Sosopol in der Sosopol-Bucht im Golf von Burgas in Bulgarien liegen. Mit einer Fläche von 1,5 ha zählt Sweti Petar zu den kleineren der fünf Schwarzmeerinseln des Landes. Die Insel trägt den Namen des Apostels Petrus, der auf bulgarisch Sweti Petar (bulgarisch Свети Петър; übersetzt „Heiliger Petar“) genannt wird. Unweit befindet sich die Insel Sweti Iwan.

St. Peter Island (Bulgarian: остров св. Петър, ostrov sv. Petar) is a Bulgarian island in the Black Sea, with an area of 0.025 square kilometres (0.010 square miles) and a height of 9 metres (30 feet) above sea level. Also known as Bird Island, it is located in the Bay of Sozopol, close to the St. Ivan and St. Cyricus Islands. As it was not mentioned in any sources until the mid-19th century, it is presumed to have separated from the larger St. Ivan Island (which is a few hundred meters to the west) as a consequence of some kind of natural phenomenon around that time. Archaeologists have discovered the ruins of a Bulgarian National Revival-time chapel, as well as traces of ancient pottery. Two small islets or large rocks also existed to the east of St. Peter, known by the names of Milos and Gata; they were last described by Russian war correspondents in the 1820s and have presumably submerged in the following years.

Святой Пётр — небольшой болгарский остров в Чёрном море площадью 0,025 км² и высотой 9 м над уровнем моря. Расположен в Бургасском заливе в бухте Созополя рядом с островом Святой Иван и неподалёку от острова Святой Кирилл. Поскольку до середины XIX века он не упоминался ни в каких источниках, предполагают, что остров Святой Пётр отделился от большего острова Святой Иван (который находится в нескольких сотнях метров к западу) вследствие какого-то природного явления в то время. А к востоку от Святого Петра также существовали два небольших островка или больших скалы, известные под названиями Милош и Гата; они были описаны российскими военными корреспондентами в 1820-х годах, а затем, вероятно, погрузились под воду.
