Si trova circa 800 m a nord dell'isola di Bogoslof, che a sua volta si colloca 43 km a nord di Umnak[1]. Fire è conosciuta anche come New Bogoslof essendo emersa nel 1883, quale nuova sommità emergente del vulcano Bogoslof[2]

Fire Island ist eine kleine unbewohnte Insel der Fox Islands, die zu den Aleuten gehören. Das Eiland liegt etwa 800 Meter nördlich von Bogoslof Island, mit der zusammen das Eiland 1907 zum Vogelschutzgebiet ernannt wurde.[en] Fire Island (Aleutian Islands)

It emerged in 1883, forming a companion island to Bogoslof Island. Originally, this Fire Island was named New Bogoslof (also Grewingk, after an Alaskan geologist). In 1909, President Theodore Roosevelt made Bogoslof and New Bogoslof a federally protected bird sanctuary.
