L’île de Lalu (chinois : 拉魯島) est une petite île située au milieu du Sun Moon Lake, dans le canton de Yuchi, comté de Nantou, à Taïwan. L’île était auparavant bien plus grande, séparant le lac en deux parties, l’une en forme de croissant de lune et l’autre arrondie comme un soleil. Quand l’île était encore spacieuse, des habitants y vivaient. Deux évènements ont réduit la taille de l’île. Dans les années 30, la construction d’un barrage a fait monter le niveau des eaux dans le lac et a ainsi inondé l’île presque intégralement. L’île s’est encore rétrécie durant le séisme de 1999, détruisant par la même le pavillon qui s’y trouvait.

Lalu est un mot austronésien correspondant approximativement à « après », « plus tard » (en chinois, 後).

L'île et la région environnante est accessible par bus depuis la station de Taichung et la station de Taipei.

Lalu Island (Thao language: Lalu; Chinese: 拉魯島) is a small island in Sun Moon Lake, Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. The island used to be much bigger, separating the lake into a part shaped like crescent moon and another part shaped like a round sun.[citation needed] When the island was still bigger, people lived on it; in fact, the locals called it "Pearl Mountain"(Chinese: 珠仔山 or 珠嶼) ever since the Ch'ing dynasty. Under Japanese rule, the island was renamed "Jade Island" (Japanese: 玉島), and in the 1930s, the Japanese built a dam that raised the water level in the lake and almost entirely flooded the island. After Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Government moved to Taiwan in 1949, the island was renamed Kwanghwa Island (Chinese: 光華島; lit. 'glorious China island'). In 1999 the island shrank as portions sank during the 921 earthquake, which also destroyed a wedding pavilion constructed by the local government in 1978.
