Quatrième île du lac Champlain en termes de superficie, l'île, sur laquelle se trouve un ancien phare, est devenue un parc d'État associé au parc Adirondack et est notable pour ses populations de Grands Hérons.

Une bataille navale y eut lieu en 1776.

Valcour ist eine etwa 3 km lange und anderthalb Kilometer breite Insel im Lake Champlain in den USA im Bundesstaat New York, die zum Festland hin eine Engstelle formt. Sie ist die drittgrößte Insel im Champlain-See, nach „The Heros“ und „Isle la Motte of Vermont“. Ihre Ufer haben abwechselnd felsige, schroffe oder sandige Strände. Mehrere geschützte Buchten bieten Ankerplätze. Der Leuchtturm Bluff Point Light steht am Westende der Insel. Er leitete von 1871 bis 1930 die Boote durch die Engstelle, bis er dann durch einen Stahlturm ersetzt wurde.

Valcour Island is a 968-acre (3.92 km2)[1]: 6  island in Lake Champlain in Clinton County, New York, United States.[2] The island is mostly in the Town of Peru and partly in the Town of Plattsburgh, southeast of the City of Plattsburgh. It is within the boundaries of the Adirondack Park.
