Géographie

Elle est située dans le nord des Duroch Islands (en), à 6 km au nord-ouest d'Halpern Point (en) (Trinity Peninsula.

Histoire

La Chilean Antarctic Expedition (en) l'a cartographiée en 1947-1948. L'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names l'a nommée en l'honneur de David A. Link, un membre de l'United States Antarctic Program qui fit des recherches géologiques sur l'île en 1960-1961.

Link Island (in Chile Islote Sub-Teniente Ross bzw. Islote Ross) ist eine Insel vor der Nordküste der Trinity-Halbinsel an der Spitze der Antarktischen Halbinsel. Sie liegt 5 km nordwestlich des Halpern Point am Nordrand der Duroch-Inseln.

Link Island is a small island at the outer (northern) margin of the Duroch Islands, approximately 6 kilometres (3 nmi) northwest of Halpern Point, Trinity Peninsula, Antarctica. The island was charted by the Chilean Antarctic Expedition, 1947–48, and called "Islote Sub-Teniente Ross" or "Islote Ross." The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after David A. Link, a field assistant with the University of Wisconsin (United States Antarctic Research Program) geological party during reconnaissance of this area, 1960–61, this name avoiding possible confusion with James Ross Island.[1]
