Connue sous le nom de Faure Island en anglais, l'île Faure est une île australienne située au centre du havre Hamelin, une grande baie occupant la partie orientale du golfe de l'océan Indien que l'on appelle communément baie Shark et qui est situé sur la côte ouest de l'Australie-Occidentale. Elle a été nommée en l'honneur de Pierre Faure, géographe français qui l'a découverte à la fin du mois d'août 1801 alors qu'il participait à l'expédition vers les Terres australes de Nicolas Baudin.

Faure Island ist eine 58 km² große Insel, die in der Shark Bay in Western Australia liegt. Sie ist umgeben vom Shark Bay Marine Park, einem Teil des UNESCO-Welterbes. Die Insel wurde landwirtschaftlich genutzt und auf ihr befindet sich jetzt ein Naturschutzgebiet, die Faure Island Sanctuary, das von der Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) betrieben und überwacht wird.

Faure Island is a 58 km2 island pastoral lease and nature reserve, east of the Francois Peron National Park on the Peron Peninsula, in Shark Bay, Western Australia. It lies in line with the Monkey Mia resort to the west, and the Wooramel River on the eastern shore of Shark Bay.[1] It is surrounded by the Shark Bay Marine Park and Shark Bay World Heritage Site and, as the Faure Island Sanctuary, is owned and managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC).
