Penguin Island (île du Manchot en français) est une île côtière d’Australie-Occidentale, située au large de Perth, à 700 m face à Rockingham. D’une surface de 12,5 ha, elle est habitée par la plus grande colonie de manchots pygmées d’Australie-Occidentale. Les eaux qui la bordent forment le parc marin des îles de Shoalwater (en).

L’île est accessible en ferry ainsi qu’à pied à basse mer[1]. La présence humaine y est strictement réglementée et autorisée uniquement la journée, de mi-septembre à début juin selon les conditions météorologiques[2].

Penguin Island ist eine rund 840 Meter lange Insel im indischen Ozean, knapp 800 Meter vor der australischen Westküste bei Rockingham (Bundesstaat Western Australia) und 50 km südlich von Perths Stadtzentrum gelegen, von wo aus sie mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln in rund einer Stunde zu erreichen ist. Die Vegetation besteht größtenteils aus niedrigem Bodenbewuchs, es gibt nur einige wenige größere Büsche und Bäume.[en] Penguin Island (Western Australia)
Penguin Island is a 12.5-hectare (31-acre) island off the coast near Perth, approximately 660 metres (722 yd) from Shoalwater. It is home to a colony of approximately 250 little penguins, the largest population of the birds in Western Australia.
