Il s'agit d'une petite île inhabitée située entre l'île de Portsea et l'île de Hayling Island ; elle mesure 750 m de longueur pour une largeur de 250 m.
En 1978, l'île est acquise par la Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (« Société Royale pour la Protection des Oiseaux »), est devient une zone protégée[1].
Des fragments de poterie datant de l'âge du bronze et de la période romaine ont été découverts dans l'île[2].

Long Island is an island in Langstone Harbour in Hampshire, England.[1] It is 750 metres (820 yd) long and up to 250 metres (270 yd) wide.[2] Three Bronze Age pots have been found on the island as has Mesolithic and late neolithic flint-work.[2] Bronze Age pottery along with smaller amounts of Romano-British pottery have been found on the island.[2]- [fr] Long Island (Hampshire)
