Géographie
Longue de 54 km sur 18 km de largeur, pour une superficie de 480 km2, Maramasike constitue la partie méridionale de l'île de Malaita, dont elle n'est séparée que par un étroit chenal, le passage de Maramasike. Son point culminant s'élève à 518 m d'altitude[1].
Maramasike fait partie de la province de Malaita. Son agglomération principale est Sa'a.
La population, qui s'élève à 12 967 habitants (2009), parle majoritairement la langue Sa'a.

Maramasike, auch South Malaita oder Small Malaita, ist eine Insel in der Malaita-Provinz des Inselstaats der Salomonen. Die etwa 480 km²[1] große Insel liegt unmittelbar südöstlich der Insel Malaita und von dieser getrennt durch die 14,6 km lange und meist nur wenige hundert Meter breite Maramasike Passage, deren Umgebung ein geschütztes Feuchtgebiet ist[2]. Auf der Insel wird Sa'a gesprochen.[en] South Malaita Island
South Malaita Island, also known as Small Malaita and Maramasike for Areare speakers and Malamweimwei known to more than 80% of the islanders, is the island at the southern tip of the larger island of Malaita in the eastern part of the Solomon Islands.[1] It is called "small" to distinguish it from the much larger mainland. It is now part of Malaita Province. South Malaita came under effective control of the colonial administration after the Solomon Islands was declared a British Protectorate in 1893. The administration included the collection of taxes from the islanders.[2] During the colonial days, the island was divided by the colonial government and missionary establishments into the Asimeuri, Asimae, and Raroisu'u districts.[es] Malaita Sur
