Eilean Dubh (en gaélico escocés:  ‘isla negra’) se la conoce como Glen Caladh Island está situada frente a la costa de la península de Cowal, en los Kyles of Bute, al oeste de las Burnt Islands.

Descripción


La isla mide aproximadamente 0.3 km de largo y su punto más alto se encuentra a 19 msnm. Está prácticamente cubierta de bosque.

Aunque Eilean Dubh se encuentra deshabitada, los propietarios de la isla tienen aquí su cementerio familiar. Hay también una luz de ayuda a la navegación en el extremo norte de la isla.

La isla forma un ideal puerto natural, Caladh Harbour en la costa que da a Cowal.

Eilean Dubh (deutsch: Schwarze Insel) ist eine kleine schottische Insel. Sie befindet sich am nördlichsten Punkt des Meeresarmes Kyles of Bute, welcher die Insel Bute von der Halbinsel Cowal auf dem schottischen Festland abtrennt, an der Abzweigung von Loch Riddon. Administrativ gehört sie zu der Council Area Argyll and Bute. Neben den etwa einen Kilometer südöstlich gelegenen Burnt Islands ist Eilean Dubh die einzige größere Insel in den 27 km langen Kyles of Bute. Am nördlichsten Punkt der Insel sowie auf der gegenüberliegenden Landseite befinden sich kleine Leitfeuer für den Schiffsverkehr.[1]

This particular Eilean Dubh (Scottish Gaelic: Black Island) is sometimes known as Glen Caladh Island and lies just off the Cowal peninsula in the Kyles of Bute. The island is around 0.3 kilometres at its longest length and rises to a height of 19 metres above sea level. It is almost entirely covered by woodland.
