Dayang Island (Malay: Pulau Dayang) is an island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia.[1] It is one of a group of islands along with Pulau Aur, Pulau Lang, and Pulau Pemanggil. This is a small island that offers a private holiday with the two resorts available on the island. Being the furthest island in West Malaysia, it takes a while to get to, three to four hours by charter boat from Mersing, Malaysia. Known to sports fishermen as the spot for Black Marlin fishing, it also offers the undeniable beauty of the underwater world. The neighbour island, Pulau Aur, means Bamboo island in Malay. Both islands have been known to Chinese Sailors for centuries. A map from the 17th century identified these islands as East and West Bamboo islands. Dayang and Aur islands can be visited from March to November. It is not recommended to plan your trip during the November to February time when the sea is controlled by the Northeast monsoon and the navigation from the main coast of Malaysia is generally closed.
