Chisi Island is a small island in the middle of Lake Chilwa. Lake Chilwa is the second largest lake in Malawi. The natives of the island have a wide knowledge of forest and lake usage. There are a few fortified sanctuaries built into the island's hills. Chisi Island is home to Mchenga, a large tree much wider than two humans standing side by side. Chisi Island is sometimes referred to as the most remote location in Malawi.

Chisi Island ist eine Insel im Chilwa-See in Malawi. Die Insel befindet sich nahe dem Westufer des Sees und ist die Fortsetzung einer kleinen Hügelkette. Im Osten grenzt Chisi an das offene Wasser des Lake Chilwa, der Westen ist von flachem Marschland umgeben. Durch den wechselnden Wasserstand des Sees und die geringe Tiefe der umgebenden Gewässer ändert sich auch die Größe der Insel (durchschnittlich 12–21 km²). Bei besonders niedrigem Wasserstand ist Chisi Island zu Fuß vom Festland aus erreichbar.

L'isola Chisi è una piccola isola lacustre situata al centro del lago Chilwa. Il lago Chilwa è il secondo più grande lago del Malawi. Gli abitanti dell'isola hanno una buona conoscenza e sanno utilizzare sia la foresta sia il lago.
