Norwegische Kartografen kartierten sie anhand von Luftaufnahmen der Lars-Christensen-Expedition 1936/37. Das Antarctic Names Committee of Australia benannte die Insel nach Anthony Warriner (* 1936), Funker auf der Davis-Station im Jahr 1961.

Warriner Island is a small ice-free island in the Donskiye Islands group lying just off the west end of Breidnes Peninsula in the Vestfold Hills, off the coast of East Antarctica. It is 1.2 km long by 0.7 km wide, reaching an elevation of 52 m.[1]
