Vortex Island (von englisch vortex ‚Wirbel, Strudel‘; in Argentinien Islote Remolino) ist eine 800 m lange und bis zu 245 m hohe Insel im nordöstlichen Teil des Prinz-Gustav-Kanals vor der Südseite der Trinity-Halbinsel am nördlichen Ende der Antarktischen Halbinsel. Sie liegt rund 3 km westsüdwestlich von Corry Island.

Die erste Sichtung geht wahrscheinlich auf Teilnehmer der Schwedischen Antarktisexpedition (1901–1903) unter der Leitung Otto Nordenskjölds zurück. Der Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) kartierte sie im August 1945 und nahm die Benennung vor. Namensgebend ist der Umstand, dass die Vermessungsarbeiten des FIDS durch einen Wirbelsturm behindert wurden.

Vortex Island (.mw-parser-output .geo-default,.mw-parser-output .geo-dms,.mw-parser-output .geo-dec{display:inline}.mw-parser-output .geo-nondefault,.mw-parser-output .geo-multi-punct{display:none}.mw-parser-output .longitude,.mw-parser-output .latitude{white-space:nowrap}63°44′S 57°38′W) is an island 0.5 nautical miles (0.9 km) long and 245 m high, lying in the northeast part of Prince Gustav Channel about 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) west-southwest of Corry Island, close south of Trinity Peninsula. Islands in this area were first seen by a party under J. Gunnar Andersson of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 1901–04. Vortex Island was first charted by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in August 1945. The FIDS survey party was forced to lie idle there by a whirlwind snowstorm, thus suggesting the name.[1]
