Umber Island (sinngemäß aus dem Englischen übersetzt Kernschatteninsel) ist eine 2,5 km lange und felsige Insel vor der nordwestlichen Küste der westantarktischen Alexander-I.-Insel. In der Lasarew-Bucht liegt sie 10 km nordwestlich von Dint Island.

Luftaufnahmen der US-amerikanischen Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948) dienten 1960 dem britischen Geographen Derek Searle vom Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey für eine Kartierung. Das UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee benannte die Insel 1977 so, weil sie auf besagten Luftaufnahmen im Kernschatten der benachbarten Havre Mountains liegt.

Umber Island (.mw-parser-output .geo-default,.mw-parser-output .geo-dms,.mw-parser-output .geo-dec{display:inline}.mw-parser-output .geo-nondefault,.mw-parser-output .geo-multi-punct{display:none}.mw-parser-output .longitude,.mw-parser-output .latitude{white-space:nowrap}69°13′S 72°0′W) is a rocky island, 2.4 km (1.5 miles) long, lying 1.75 km (1.09 mi) southwest of Kamhi Point and 10 km (6 miles) northwest of Dint Island lying within Lazarev Bay, off the west side of Alexander Island, Antarctica. The island was mapped from air photos taken by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE) in 1947–48, by Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1960, it was so named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee because on the RARE photos the island appears in deep shadow cast by the Havre Mountains to the north.
