Bekannt ist Ombo durch einen Felsen in Form einer Nase, häufig bezeichnet als „König Ombo“ oder als „Ombogubben/Adam“. Die Insel gehörte bis Ende 2019 jeweils zur Hälfte zum Gebiet der beiden Kommunen Hjelmeland und Finnøy, seither aber vollständig zu Stavanger.

Ombo is an island in the municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. The 57.5-square-kilometre (22.2 sq mi) island is the largest island in the Ryfylke region and the second largest island in Rogaland county. There are several villages on the island including Jørstadvåg, Atlatveit, and Eidssund in the western part of the island and the villages of Tuftene, Skipavik, Skår, and Vestersjø are located on the southeastern part of the island.[1] Jørstad Church is located in the village of Jørstadvåg. The island is the northeasternmost part of the vast Stavanger municipality, nearly 40 kilometres (25 mi) from the city of Stavanger, the administrative centre of the municipality.
