Nilandhoo[2] ist eine Insel des Nord-Nilandhe-Atolls im Inselstaat Malediven in der Lakkadivensee (Indischer Ozean). Sie ist Hauptinsel des Verwaltungsatolls Faafu, welches das gesamte Nord-Nilandhe-Atoll umfasst. 2014 hatte die Insel 1553 Bewohner.[1]

Geographie

Die Insel liegt im Südwestrand des Atolls, ist etwa 1100 m lang und bis zu 700 m breit.

Nilandhoo (Dhivehi: ނިލަންދޫ) is the capital of Faafu Atoll, a region with five inhabited islands. It is the largest and most populated island in the region, and includes historical sites such as foah'mathi and Aasaari Miskiy and a school. Foah'mathi is a historical site with a Buddhist temple under it, while Aasaari Miskiy is the second mosque built in the Maldives.
