Mutton Island (irisch Oileán Caorach - dt. Hammelinsel) ist eine kleine Insel, etwa einen Kilometer südlich der Küste zwischen Galway und Salthill im County Galway in Irland.

Die Insel ist von Claddagh aus über einen Damm mit dem Festland verbunden. Auf der unbewohnten Insel steht ein Leuchtturm und liegt eine Kläranlage. Die die meiste Zeit des Jahres über für die Öffentlichkeit unzugängliche Insel wird in der Regel nur von den Arbeitern an der Kläranlage besucht. Nach der Behandlung wird das Abwasser ins Meer gepumpt.

Mutton Island is a small island located approximately 1km off the coast of Galway City, Ireland and is connected by to the mainland with a causeway. The causeway is popular for wedding proposals due to the views from the island.[citation needed] It is home to a sewage treatment plant and light house. No permanent residents live on the island and it is generally only visited by those working on the sewage plant. After treatment the sewage water is pumped out to sea on the same facility[1]
