Die McMahon-Inseln sind zwei kleine, felsige und bis zu 60 m hohe Inseln vor der Küste des ostantarktischen Enderbylands. Sie liegen 800 m nördlich der Thala Hills und sind von diesen durch die Kitovyy Strait getrennt.

Luftaufnahmen der Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) aus dem Jahr 1956 dienten ihrer Kartierung. Eine ANARE-Mannschaft besuchte sie im Februar 1961. Das Antarctic Names Committee of Australia benannte sie nach Francis Patrick McMahon, der als Logistiker der Australian Antarctic Division mehrere Expeditionen zur Macquarieinsel geleitet hatte und stellvertretender Leiter bei einigen Expeditionen nach Antarktika war.

McMahon Islands are two low, peaked, rocky islands, 0.9 kilometres (0.5 nmi) north of the Thala Hills, Enderby Land. The islands, about 60 m (197 ft) above sea level, are separated by a narrow channel. Plotted from Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) air photos taken in 1956 and visited by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) (Thala Dan) in February, 1961. Named by ANCA for F.P. McMahon, Supply Officer, Antarctic Division, Melbourne, and second-in-command of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE) (Thala Dan), 1960–61.[1]
