Mit einer Fläche von 5,5 km² ist Hjörsey die drittgrößte Insel Islands und erhebt sich bis zu 12 Meter über den Meeresspiegel. Die Insel liegt 20 Kilometer westlich der Stadt Borgarnes und 3 Kilometer vor der Küste. Bei Ebbe führt eine Piste von Hjörsey über die benachbarte Insel Hjörseyjarsandur zum Hraunhreppsvegur, der Straße 540. Früher war diese Insel bewohnt und eine Einnahmequelle war das Treibholz.

Hjörsey (Icelandic pronunciation: ​[ˈçœr̥sˌeiː]) is the largest island in western Iceland and the third largest in Iceland.[1] It was part of the traditional county of Mýrasýsla; there used to be a church on Hjörsey, but it was taken apart in 1896.[2] The island was also formerly home to a farm.[3] While there is no human population on the island, a wild herd of horses is able to roam the island freely.[4]
