Luftaufnahmen, die 1956 im Rahmen der Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions entstanden, dienten ihrer Kartierung. Das Antarctic Names Committee of Australia benannte sie nach Thomas A. Edwards, Dieselaggregatmechaniker auf der Wilkes-Station im Jahr 1960.

The Edwards Islands are a group of islands in the east side of Amundsen Bay, about 5 kilometres (2.5 nmi) southwest of Mount Oldfield in Enderby Land. They were plotted from air photos taken from Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions aircraft in 1956, and were named by the Antarctic Names Committee of Australia for T. Edwards, an assistant diesel mechanic at Wilkes Station in 1960.[1]
