Punta Pezzo is a point in Reggio Calabria, southern Italy. It is the closest point of Calabria to Sicily and is the northernmost point of the Calabrian side of the Strait of Messina, lying on the northern channel.

Overview

The coasts of this sea area are crossed by very strong currents and the topography of the beaches varies from year to year because of the very strong winter storms. It is located in the comune of Villa San Giovanni, about 13 km north of Reggio Calabria.[1]

Punta Pezzo (anticamente Capo Cenide) è il punto della Calabria più prossimo alla Sicilia e costituisce la punta più a nord del versante calabro dello Stretto di Messina, trovandosi sull'ingresso settentrionale del canale. Le coste di questo tratto di mare sono attraversate da fortissime correnti e l'orografia delle spiagge varia di anno in anno a causa delle fortissime mareggiate invernali. È situata presso l'omonimo quartiere di Pezzo, nel comune di Villa San Giovanni, a circa 13 km a nord del capoluogo.
