The suburb takes its name from the beach Marcus Beach (26.4501°S 153.1036°E / -26.4501; 153.1036 (Marcus Beach)) which extends north in neighbouring Castaways Beach.[3]
The suburb is bounded to the east by the Coral Sea, to the south-east by Peregian Creek, to the west by Lake Weyba (26.4392°S 153.0742°E / -26.4392; 153.0742 (Lake Weyba)) and to the north-east (in part) by Castaways Creek.[4][5]
Marcus Creek flows though the suburb immediately north of the residential area and enters the Coral Sea (26.4526°S 153.1025°E / -26.4526; 153.1025 (Marcus Creek (mouth))).[6]
Marcus Beach was named after the property developer, Marcus Burke, the grandson of T.M. Burke.[7]
Historically and currently, Marcus Beach is within the local government area of Shire of Noosa (but between 2008 and 2013 it was within Sunshine Coast Region).
In the 2016 census, Marcus Beach had a population of 757 people.[1]
