Descrizione
Le cascate, che complessivamente fanno un salto di 250 metri, sono accessibili dalla funicolare Reichenbachfall-Bahn. Oggi una centrale idroelettrica sfrutta le cascate in certi periodi dell'anno riducendone così il flusso.
Queste cascate sono state rese famose dallo scrittore scozzese Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, che nel racconto L'ultima avventura vi ambientò la famosa battaglia fra Sherlock Holmes ed il Professor Moriarty, durante la quale entrambi vengono, almeno apparentemente, ingoiati dalle acque.
In realtà, la vera sporgenza da cui l’investigatore cadde insieme al nemico si trova sull’altro lato delle cascate di Reichenbach rispetto alla funicolare. Si può raggiungere salendo il percorso in cima al precipizio, attraversando il ponte e seguendo il sentiero.

The Reichenbach Falls (German: Reichenbachfälle) are a waterfall cascade of seven steps on the stream called Rychenbach in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland.[1] They drop over a total height of about 250 metres (820 ft).[2] At 110 metres (360 ft), the upper falls, known as the Grand Reichenbach Fall (German: Grosser Reichenbachfall), is by far the tallest segment and one of the highest waterfalls in the Alps, and among the forty highest in Switzerland.[3] The Reichenbach loses 290 metres (950 ft) of height from the top of the falls to the valley floor of the Haslital.[1] Today, a hydroelectric power company harnesses the flow of the Reichenbach Falls during certain times of year, reducing its flow.[4][5][es] Cataratas de Reichenbach
